PAUL-ELIAS, ALRED JAMES
It is with sadness that we announce that Alfred passed away on September, 11th, 2021 in Fredericton, New Brunswick at the age of 72. Born in Minto, New Brunswick on February 28th, 1949, he was the son of the late Zidie and Armaline (Joseph) Paul-Elias of Minto, New Brunswick. He was also predeceased by his brother Dr. Joe Elias, his brother David Paul-Elias, his sister-in-law Rose (David) Bechtel, and sister-in-law Sandy (Mark) Paul-Elias. He is survived by the love of his life, Eleanor McLaughlin and Michael McLaughlin, Kelly (Ken) Dabrowski, Stella Dabrowski, Charlie Dabrowski, siblings, Marthy (Henry) Belliveau, Ronnie (Doug) MacPherson, Mark Paul-Elias, Victor Paul-Elias (Debbie Keeler), Alice (Dick) Giggal, Ruth Paul, and sister-in-law, Marielle (Joe) Elias. He also had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins in the family.
Alfred, a retired teacher and administrator, devoted his entire career to motivating young people to be the best they could be. After teaching at Black’s Harbour and Harvey Regional High School, Alfred ended his education career as principal of Devon Middle School. Alfred coordinated the junior golf program at Fredericton Golf Club for thirty years. He was active with First Tee in St. Petersburg, Florida. A proud graduate of St. Thomas University, Alfred dedicated himself to drama and development of drama for public schools. Alfred touched the lives of people with his kindness, humour, music, and generosity. Cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest in Fredericton, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Devon Middle School Music Program or to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, September 25th from 1 – 4 and from 7 – 9, face masks and social distancing required.
