To the Cochrane family,
How very sad to learn of Dorothy’s passing. Mrs. Cochrane (as I always knew her) was simply one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. She was always so kind and gentle. She seemed to have a special talent for making others feel special, perhaps because of her genuine interest in them and how their lives were going. I knew her for most of my life and always felt uplifted by any encounter with her. I have particularly fond memories of trailering days with the Cochrane’s, numerous Gibson Memorial events, including congregational camping weekends and the beautiful wedding shower Dorothy threw for me. Mrs. Cochrane was a truly generous and loving soul, with a perpetual smile and the most delightful giggle, not to mention (along with David, of course) a dear friend of my parents. I’m sure you will all miss her terribly and I wish you all the best as you adjust to the enormous loss.

Don, Ana, Ethan, Elena and Maia...
Our friendship with the Cochrane's began when we started attending Gibson Memorial United Church in 1976. Dorothy and David were among the first members to welcome us to the congregation. At the christening of our youngest son, as was their practice, Dorothy and Dave presented the parents with single red roses, in loving memory of their son, Michael. Dorothy was a wonderfully kind and gentle person, with a terrific laugh and sense of humour. Having been blessed with two first names, she always called me "Carle". I know that you, Ana, and your terrific kids provided your mother with an amazing living arrangement after your dad died, "Donald". She spoke so fondly of you all, always. I think she was blessed, and I am sure you will miss her terribly after such a long and productive life. God bless Dorothy.
In friendship,
Dale & Brenda Carle

My dear friend, Dorothy .. your hair always so very fine...you enjoyed 'our' poetry, our art ... and our singing with all 'your' friends in our Adult Day Program ... I always made certain never to arrange 'Leave No Memory Behind' tales nor our 'Meaningful Musical Masterpieces' when your beauty appointment was arranged! Your many tales of lively adventures and times of joy remain permanently logged within my memory ... you are forever part of the lives of so many ... of which I am but one. To David & to the whole Cochrane Family:
I was saddened to learn of the passing of your Mom.....but what a life well lived ! I remember seeing you all at Gibson Memorial many times, and of course, you were there when my Mom passed for which I am grateful. I wish I could be there now to show my great respect for your Mom and your family. And of course, I still think of Mike from time to time...a great friend of mine.
Your Mom was such a kind lady - always smiling as I remember her. So, on behalf of myself and brother Rob, we send our deepest sympathies and respect to the Cochrane Family of McLaren Ave. RIP Mrs. Cochrane - you are cherished.
Sincerely,
Chris Fisher

To The Family: I first met Mr. and Mrs. Cochrane when they were living in their home on McLaren Avenue. I always enjoyed my visits with them and they were just the sweetest couple. I remember the Christmas Cactus that took up their entire dining room table and I believe Mrs. Cochrane said at that time, the plant was either 50 or 75 years old! I was just thinking of your Mom the other day and wondering how she was doing. Will forever remember her beautiful smile and her welcoming personality. Cherish all the precious memories you have.
Sincerely,
Maria Pugh
