Obituary of Norma Ruth Toon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Ruth Toon on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Hospice House.  Born on July 25, 1929 in Maple Grove, NB. She was predeceased by her husband (the love of her life) of nearly 70 years, Roy, her mother and father, Maude (Porter) and Ray Merrill; two brothers, Dell and Bert Merrill.  She loved bowling, knitting and crocheting, camping with her family and friends, and watching her favourite players in tennis and hockey.

Norma leaves behind her daughter, Wendy Rolland, two grandchildren, Christopher Leachman and Jennifer Leachman (Doricott); sisters, Joan Jones and Velma Hay; brothers, Floyd (Joyce) and Neill Merrill; sisters in law, Frances and Helen Merrill; several special nieces, nephews, and many great friends.  

There will be a Memorial Service at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 1 pm with Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating.  Due to the current health situation the service will be by invitation only the public is welcome to register to view the live stream at www.yorkfh.com  A Private Family Interment will take place in Taymouth Community Cemetery.  The family would like to give their thanks to all the staff at Hospice House for all the wonderful care that they provided.  In Mom’s honour donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice House, Gibson Memorial United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
