My condolences to Russells' Family and Friends. I remember so many good things about Russell. I think about all the laughs we had together both at work (EPA Halifax) and especially outside of work. I'll miss him but not forget him

Russell was the brother Rossie never had. Many a dirt road they travelled together. Russell was our family; our girls called him Uncle Russell. We love you. We miss you.

So saddened by this. I would like to share a few memories from Russell's rugby life.
The Loyalists are down a man. Russell Chester Currie passed away on Monday the eighth of February 2021. Russell played for our side in the mid to late 70's, filling the hooker position with distinction, before work took him to Halifax. He played there for the Tars in their infancy and was honoured with their club award for "Best Sportsman" during his tenure.
Russell was never the biggest, never the strongest, never most fleet of foot among those gathered on the pitch for a match. But he carried the spirit equal to that of ten men onto the field and he loved the game and others who played it. That spirit was in evidence in all aspects of his life. Rarely would he leave the post game celebration until the last pint was emptied and to be his teammate and to his friend was a lifetime commitment.
Declining health has meant scarce appearances by Russell at the field in recent times, but when he was able to attend the years melted away and he was a boy again. I know those encounters with Loyalists of his era brought him great joy.

Russell has been a Very Special Friend since we both were Hired by Eastern Provincial Airways in the late 70's. Russell loved Life, Having a Good Laugh, Driving all the Back Roads on our Days off & Spending Time with Good Friends. Russell was a Kind, Giving, Loyal & Appreciative Gentleman. He would do Without for Others. Russell will Remain in my Heart & Memories. On Behalf of Myself & my Family, We would like to Extend our Condolences to Russell's Family & Friends. Rest in Peace my Good Buddy...Robert(Bobby)Banks
