When I saw this post on Facebook for Stephen’s death I was shocked and saddened. I had the absolute pleasure to with with Stephen in 1991 at Honda as he was my Used Car Manager. I was new to the industry and he made a huge impression on me and taught me a lot about the industry. Over the many years to come, I always enjoyed my interactions with Stephen. It didn’t matter that months or even years would pass, anytime we crossed paths he would always stop and make you feel special. With that large ear to ear grin, he always had a funny comment and shake my hand and/or give me a hug. He was such a warm, kind person. I have so many stories about Stephen that I have told many times over the years and I always would laugh out loud when explaining them. He was a larger than life character and an absolute Used Vehicle Icon for many, many years in Atlantic Canada! There will never be another like him. He was the best at what he did. I last saw him a couple of years ago at a Moncton gas station and like always, he spoke to me and made me laugh. If I had known it would be the last time I would see him I would have cherished it even more. My heart goes out to his Dad Duane and the entire family. I hope you get to hear many more stories about the large impression that he made on others as well. RIP Stephen, we will all miss you buddy!

Sincere condolences from Donald and Rachel Boudreau in Shediac. We knew Stephen for many many years. Met him through Marc Landry when they both worked for Honda. He was often at our house back in those days. The last time we spent time with Stephen was about 4 years ago when he invited us to spend a weekend on the Miramichi. Went tubing and did a hike To the Falls. Also met the family at that time. We are sorry for your loss. Too young. Rest In Peace Stephen

Dear Lois, Duane and family. I am so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear son Stephen. I knew Stephen when he was just a lad, but never got the opportunity to see him as a grown man. As friend of Lois and Duane, I know how much this young man meant to his family and friends. I am here for you and your family anytime day or night. Just give me a call. There are no words that can express how sad I am for your entire family. Rest In Peace Stephen. You were much loved by many

Awe.... What a great man! I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Stephen. I met Stephen, Duane and Shannon as a child when I traveled with my father (George) to various places of Stephen's work as they were friend's. I Loved visiting him, he always teased me. He had an infectious smile that will always be remembered. He sure knew his vehicles. Whenever I bumped into him always talked about Shanon and Madison. He was proud of you guys! Lois, Duane, Shannon, Madison and Family, our condolences at this difficult time.

How lucky I was to have known someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. Death comes to everyone but not everyone lives. Stephen lived!! and did so with an infectious smile and endless wit. Thank you for your boundless friendship. It was a privilege to call you "Friend" Rest easy buddy until we meet again.

Dear Duane and Dubby and family; our hearts were so saddened with this TRAGIC news. Although we know Stephen's family more personally than we knew him, due to distance, we certainly knew when he had arrived at the family get-togethers with the hugh, beautiful smile he inherited from his Mum and the personality and humor he was gifted from his Dad. I remember Stephen always as if he'd just "stepped out of a "band box" , impeccably dressed and groomed; again, like his father! We are so sorry for all those who are left behind to mourn. May God give you all strength as you go forward with Stephen always in your hearts.
Lovingly, Mavis (MacKay) and Fred O'Donnell

The first time I met Stephen was when Dryden Motors in Moncton closed and I was hired to sell used cars out of an old mobile home on King st in Moncton N.B that Pat Butler owned. I had no experience and and was fresh in the business. The folks I work with was Brian Makepeace, Peter White,Kevin Pennock,Ron Harris,Gerry Doiron would show up, and Stephen who was our manager and Pat was their as well most of the days off and on.
I remember the first used car I sold it was a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix L J and it was two tone and it had honey comb wheels and Stephen was happy for me and he took me out for a few beer after closing. I remember my first time on a plane,Stephen said for me to call some friends and family as Pat had bought 15 used cars at the Montreal Auction and he had one way tickets for all of us as we needed drivers to drive them home once landing in Montreal. Stephen has a smile and a awesome sense of humor and the black book was in his head as many dealers always called Stephen for values on vehicles.Stephen was an impeccable dresser and wore the best of suits and shoes and expensive ties.My fondest memory of Stephen was how well dress he was and the nice cloths. But what sticks in my mind was he rarely wore any socks with those nice suits..My sincere condolences to the Hoveys and family as Stephen is in good hands now..

To Madison: I have thought of you lots over the years - how much Stephen bragged about you - how dear you were to him - it was one of the things that made me love him so dearly! Your Dad was quite a guy. He lived life with the utmost carefree attitude, I found that to be one of his most attractive features. He played hard - he loved hard and he loved everyone! He will be missed. We dated for only 6 months or so - you were just a toddler. Hugs to you little princess...
My condolences to Duane and Lois - you had the best son ever. He made everyone feel special....that must of came from the two of you. God bless. From Sherry Bland

I first met and got to know Stephen at Pat Butler's Dryden Motors (Moncton) back in 1979. We had quite a crew back then, with Duane, his father, Steve Glidden and many more wild and crazy guys. Stephen was unique in many ways. He had an uncanny ability to make you laugh. (He shared his father's wit.) He loved his life long obsession of being in the car business...the wheeling and dealing, and the excitement of making the deal happen. After Dryden's, he went to work with Gary at Harvard Auto Sales, everyone from all around Atlantic Canada would call Stephen (on his brick phone) to get an opinion and valuation of what a trade was worth. No one had a better handle on the used car market than Stephen. With his wisdom and talent he helped countless salesmen (and women) and the dealers put 1000's and 1000's of deals together, based on his input over the years. Everyone in the business knew and respected Stephen for how he was eager to help.
I've only been with Stephen a handful of times since I left Moncton for PEI in 1994, but, I did speak with him fairly often. It was only a few weeks ago I sent him a picture of his look-a-like, Jack Nicholson, with the the caption," Yes, I've made mistakes...Life didn't come with instructions. And, if it did, I wouldn't follow them anyway!"
That sums up Stephen; the Stephen I will always remember and miss.
To Duane, Lois, Shannon, Keri, Madison, grand kids and friends, our sincere condolences from Scott & Cathy Grady, Summerside, PEI
