Obituary of Marjorie Gladys Currie
Currie, Marjorie Gladys
The passing of Marjorie Gladys Currie of Estey’s Bridge, NB, wife of the late John Currie, occurred on Friday January 29, 2021 at York Care Centre. Born on September 11, 1934 in Keswick, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Olive (Dumphy) Pickard. Marjorie worked at Rosery Hall (Sisters of Charity) for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking big meals, baking desserts, and having large family gatherings. She was known by all as Mom Currie family or friend, and if you ever came into her yard you were sure to be invited in then bound to eat something as she would never be satisfied until you did. She made everyone feel special and loved with her warm, caring, and generous heart. Her family was what she loved most in life and spend her days inquiring about them all. Her walls were proudly covered with family pictures that she could show off and tell special stories to who entered her room each day. She was the core to her large family and will be genuinely missed by all.
Marjorie is survived by her children Wendy Sandwith (Winston), John Currie (Merriam Logan) and Wanda Williams (Ron); sister Alma Topp; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Christine Currie. She was predeceased by her sons Roger John Currie and Alonzo Currie; brother John Pickard; sisters Pauline Quartermain and Carol Anne Regan. Marjorie’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and Joan Lavigne at York Care Center for the exceptional care they provided during her residence there.
A private graveside service will be celebrated in the Seymour Memorial Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
