I was very sad to hear the news of Charles' passing several days ago. I had the pleasure of working with him in the cadet program in Fredericton for several years and I think it is fair to say that his efforts had a positive influence on hundreds of young lives. He will be missed dearly, but the good that he did will continue to resonate through the young lives that his work as a mentor and leader impacted.

Dear Diane and family: Mike and I are so sorry to hear about Charles' passing. He was a wonderful friend and co- worker and believed strongly in everything he did. I wish that we could be there to offer our sympathy in person but are out of the country. All I can say is that we will be thinking of you over the next while and are sharing in your loss in a small way ( as compared to what you and Philippe must be feeling. We hope that the memories will help relieve your missing Charles a little. ~ Lynn and Mike

Dearest Diane and Philippe,
It is with great sadness that I hear of the passing of a Charles a true friend and offer you my deepest sympathies for your loss. It was my hope to attend his service and offer you my condolences in person, but circumstances simply do not permit. Charles and I go way back as you know, through Cadets, attending the six week air cadet band course together in Greenwood in 1975, and sharing many classes in High School. Our friendship continued as we shared an apartment for three years at UNB, where I had the pleasure of meeting you Diane, and was honoured to stand with Charles as best man at your wedding. His love for you was deep and true, as was clearly evident in the huge smile on his face as you rode off for your honeymoon. Charles was a man of upstanding character that always gave of himself to the betterment of others his outstanding work with the cadet movement that positively affected so many lives being but one example, and his employment in service to the public being another. Phillippe although I only met you a couple time when you were young, and your Father and I only connected occasionally on his visits to Ottawa or at cadet reunions, you should know that he always spoke so highly of you and always shared how incredibly proud he was of you. Charles unique sense of humour and infectious laugh will be missed. May God rest his soul and grant both of you comfort in this most difficult of times. Sincerely, Colonel (Retd) Todd Mitton.
