Obituary of Michael Sprague
Michael Roger Sprague died on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 1, 1953 in Plaster Rock, NB, he was the son of the late Duncan and Pearl (Petersen) Sprague. Mike retired from the NB Department of Environment, where he worked for over 35 years. Mike was an avid salmon fisherman, outdoorsman and conservationist. He will be remembered as a musician and a great storyteller.
Mike is survived by his sister, Colleen (John) Booker; brothers, Greg (Linda) Sprague and Jay (Gale) Sprague all of Fredericton, NB; niece, Ashley Sprague (Alan Jeffries) of Annapolis Royal, NS; nephews, Adam (Angela) Sprague of Hanwell, NB, Andrew Sprague and Alex Sprague both of Ottawa, ON.
Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 1-2 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm, followed by a reception in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations in Mike’s memory can be made to the Miramichi Salmon Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donor’s choice.
