Dear Aunt Betty, Ruth, and Susan,
We were so thankful to have made the effort to have breakfast together last summer - me with a migraine throwing up in the washroom between bites of toast - and Uncle doing his best to come out with us after one of his bad episodes. Super "meant to be" time! We also remember how Uncle Doug a couple of years ago "hung out" with Mark at the cottage while I attended a concert. It was such a kind gesture that Mark appreciated so much! I will always remember walking to your log cottage and secretly hoping that someone was in so we could chat for a minute or two. Susan and Ruthie, loosing your dad will leave a huge gap and I feel for you so much. He was a good man. Aunt Betty, you are such a trooper and you were so courageous to face each day in these last few years - never knowing what might lie ahead. I continue to say prayers for you all and am so grateful that God has been there all along answering our prayers. Psalm 63: 1-8. The service today will be such a witness to the love found in Christ that Uncle Doug displayed throughout his life.
With love and prayers,
Carolyn

To Betty,Susan and Ruth...it is with great sadness that I write this note to you but I also know Doug is in a better place. It has been my pleasure to work and get to know you all this past year. Some people touch you more then others and Doug was certainly one of those people always smiling and so appreciative of everything we did for him. I can't be with you thru this trying time but just know my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know your faith and all your wonderful memories will be a blessing to you. I will always remember that big voice of Doug's yelling out "is that you Gert" before I could ever see him. Take care and thanks for letting me get to know such a great family....R.I.P. my dear friend.

I met Doug when I taught at FHS many years ago. What a wonderful guidance counsellor and a beautiful person. That picture is so the Doug I remember. He had a very positive influence on so many of his students. I taught Susan I believe and she was so much like her dad. I was privileged to know and work with Doug. Will be thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless each of you. Rest in peace, Doug.

Ruth and family,
Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with you. Indeed your dad was a great encourager. During one of my visits to the best counselor at FHS he shared with me as believers in Christ "we are in the palm of God's hand"! I can still picture him cupping his hand saying those words. He IS a great ambassador for His Savior and will be missed for sure until we meet again. May God comfort you and shine upon you today and in the days ahead.

Dear Betty, Ruth, & Susan:
It was with sadness that I heard of Doug's passing, from Mom. I will forever, however, have the fondest of memories of him, from my earliest childhood, even to the last time I saw him.
I will always remember his kindnesses to me, especially while I was at FHS, struggle after struggle, Doug was always there with a smile, encouraging word, and piece of advice. Most important, though, was ALL those countless prayers and hugs, he offered!! Doug wasn't just a gentleman, but a gentle man!
You are all in my prayers; though I can't be there in person, know that I'm there in spirit and heart!
Love and hugs to you all,
Rebecca J.

In 1982 I walked to the front of our church to ask Jesus to be Lord of my life. I was met shortly after the service by Doug, he opened his Bible and showed me a warn recipe card with my name on it. He said," Saturday morning was your time, I prayed for you every Saturday morning." I will never forget and ever appreciate Doug for all he ment for me.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. MacCallum. I had seen him in passing fairly recently, and had such a nice chat with him. I was so pleased that he remembered me from FHS. He was always my favourite Guidance Counsellor there, and I will always cherish all the fond memories I have of those times. He certainly had a very positive influence on my life, and I will be forever grateful for that. God bless you, Mr. MacCallum. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
