Very saddened to learn of Skip’s passing. I got to know Skip in the late 80s when Skip was based at CFB Masset and I was a forester 'down the road' in Port Clements. We both shared a passion for fitness and the outdoors. Skip organized a swim team and entered us in the Northern BC Winter Games in Williams Lake in 1988. Despite training in the base's small 20-metre pool, we did very well with Skip winning the 50 metre buttterfly and anchoring the men’s relay team to a first place finish. Skip happily did the 1200km of driving to Williams Lake and back; it was a fun trip that I will always remember. Later that year Skip asked me to bike ride across Canada with him and I always regretted not joining him. Best to Skip's family; I am sure you all still miss him deeply. - Ian Graeme, Victoria -

Skip you were FABULOUS! I dispatched Skip in 90's at Brookville. Every morning when Skip called in I would always ask him how he was, and the reply was always the same "I'm fabulous or so I've been told". God Bless You Skip.

I knew Skip for about a week last fall when he and I were both staying at the hostel in the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was lovely, funny, kind man and I send my condolences to his wife and family and to all those people who knew him better than I.

Jill, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I was lucky enough to meet and work with Skip as a new dispatcher in Halifax. He would always be in the office helping out when he was not on the road. He made the job so much more enjoyable. Skip, you have touched so many lives throughout the years and anyone who met you became an instant friend.

I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Skip's passing. I knew him mostly from being driven around by him while I was in the Stad Band. He was such a cheerful and fun man. I had met him years before when we were both in the Reg Force. He was "the guy who rode his bike from Masset" then. How grateful I am that I got to see how much more there was! We also realized that we were teenagers together in Burlington, about a mile apart from each other. My deepest condolences to Skip's family and friends.

Skip set the standard for how all of us should live our lives, with his love, compassion for others, and positive attitude, no matter how dark the days are.His infectious laugh, his "bear grip" signature handshake, and that beaming smile he always showed us.A skilled carpenter in his own right, he even engineered his own steam machine for bending the ribs of the NFLD lapstrake swampscot dory he built from scrath with the hand selected pine logs he had cut for his beloved boat project. Will forever remember the day we both graduated driving school attaining our "Class 1" tractor-trailor licences, {he scored at the top of our class}, of course, and how he was offered a teaching job at the very facility we had just attended. He respectfully declined the offer, and said, "I think I should go out in the world and do it for awhile before I teach it." Testament to the calibur of man he was, and what others thought of him.Everyone who was lucky enough to have encountered him in their day, truly had a "Magical" moment, for sure.Skip, you are so well loved and respected, words cannot describe. You left your footprint on this earth, and the world was a better place because of you. Thank you so much for teaching us all how to live life to the fullist, love and respect each other, and be so positive, no matter what the day beholds. Our deepest condolences to you Jill, and all of Skip's extended family.Stay strong, there will be a ray of sunshine in our days ahead, it will be Skip beaming down on all of us, our Guardian Angel on our shoulder. Rest easy our dear freind, until we meet again.
