Obituary of Neal Calhoun

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Neal Calhoun of Bloomfield Ridge, New Brunswick announce his passing on Thursday, May 30th, 2024, at the age of 70. Neal was born on June 9th, 1953, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Neal will be deeply missed by Sheila, his wife and best friend of 46 years; children, Josh (Michelle), Erika, Raymond (Amy); grandchildren, Alexsa, Colton, Logan, Aryanna, Jacob, Joshua and Summer; siblings, Audrey Hicks, (Gerry), Edgar Calhoun (Anita), Cynthia Hardy, Deanna Cavanagh (Gene), Carla Porter (Kevin O’Donnell), Joan Porter (Perry); and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Neal was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lorena Calhoun; siblings, Lloyd and Phylis.

Neal grew up in Bloomfield Ridge, New Brunswick. He worked for Purolator Courier for 33 years, first in Saint John, New Brunswick, then to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and lastly, in Pickering, Ontario.

He then retired where they rebuilt the family cottage into their dream home on the Miramichi River… This was the best day of their lives.

Neal loved his family, friends, and community with his whole heart, he was always was a giver. Anyone who knew him would say he was the ultimate host and storyteller.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 4^th, 2024 from 12-2 pm at York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8 New Bandon and will be followed immediately by a Memorial Service. A Private Interment will take place in Parkers Ridge Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
