Obituary of Brian Robert Bennett

BENNETT, Brian Robert

It’s with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Robert Bennett of Fredericton, NB, it occurred on January 12, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 22, 1948, in Truro, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Wesley and Betty Bennett.

Brian grew up in Crowes Mills, Nova Scotia. Brian moved to New Brunswick where he met his wife of 47 years Brenda Bennett.

Brian will be missed by his wife, Brenda; his daughter, Melissa Henderson; grandchildren, Justin Bennett, Alyssa Lyons, Cash and Tucker Henderson; brother, Stephen Bennett (Joanne); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Brian’s passion was playing guitar, which he was able to enjoy up till his last days of life, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash were his musical idols. Brian never missed an aired Toronto Maple Leafs game, that team caused him so much heartache over the years!! Brian loved his family and was known to them as someone who always showed up for anyone, anytime, he could put a smile on everyone’s face in the room. During his healthier years he loved going out on the town socializing, watching and playing live music, having coffee with his friends at Tim Hortons, and his almost daily phone calls and visits to Long & McQuade, the staff there knew Brian well, they always enjoyed seeing him come in to buy another guitar or just to visit and chat for hours.

Brian was a member of I.B.E.W. he was an Electrician till he could no longer work due to his health. Brian worked all over New Brunswick and at times in other areas of Canada.

In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his son Tony Bennett, brother, Andrew Bennett, and his sister, Cynthia Bennett. A wake for Brian will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5 to 7:30 pm.
