Dear Lucille and family,
I was so wanting to make it to either the visitation or the funeral for Harold, in part to represent my fellow staff and our denominational family (on which I serve), but also as an expression of my own personal respect for and appreciation of Harold, for although I wasn't close to him he was always one oI so greatly respected. Unfortunately I have developed a severe cold and even though I am testing negative for Covid, I did not feel it wise to potentially infect those who will be in attendance.
My first memory of Harold would be when I was in grade 8 and a student at Riverview Jr High/High School, and Harold -- who then was pastoring at Lower Coverdale -- came to speak to our ISCF group. Who he was made a significant impression on me as a young teen. Years later Harold was serving with our denominational family as Director for Christian Training (I believe it was) and I remember him speaking at an Association training seminar we had put together, and again I held him in such very high esteem. I know he also served so capably among a number of our churches over the years, and he will very much be missed.
We pray God's comfort for you all, and rejoice with you in knowing that he has experienced his ultimate healing in being welcomed into our Lord's presence.
Blessings to you all,
Greg J

Dear Lucille, Jennifer, Mark and families,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Harold's / your dad's passing. This news has moved us, as a family, to a time of much reflection. Harold's years of pastoral leadership at West End Baptist Church here in St. John's, were very special years for our family. It was truly a blessing for us, as a young family in the 80s, to have experienced the rich teaching and spiritual leadership that his ministry provided us.
What a joy and privilege it was to have Harold visit with us in our home in 2010, when he accepted an invitation to speak at our Calvary Baptist Annual Retreat. We thank God for these years and special times together, and for the significant role Harold played to enrich our lives.
We are praying with you and for you during these challenging days.
Art, June, Geoff and Jason

Brother Arbo was a good friend and neighbor. He lived in the next apartment to mine, and we often shared together in Christian fellowship. We would often remember together people and places we were familiar with from days past in the Ministry, and always seemed to be able to bring a word of encouragement even when things were difficult. I know he was well respected among the wider Christian community and beyond, and the influence of his testimony will continue to make a difference . I miss having him as my next door neighbor, since he moved to York Care, and yet we had good times together when I would visit him there. I am sure he is with Christ, "which is far better", and by God's grace we will meet again. May the peace of Christ be with all who are sharing together in this time of loss. Dean Annis

Dear Lucille and family:
Joy and I want to express our Christian love and sympathy to you and the family on the loss of you beloved husband and loved one. While we did not stay in touch over the years, we remember the time years ago when he accompanied our tour group to the Holy Land.
Although our faith assures us of God's great love and compassion during these times of loss, there is still a sense of loss until we are together again. Be assured of our prayers as you mourn the loss of your loved one and celebrate his Christian life and service to his Lord.
In Christian sympathy,
Morley & Joy

Edward and Beverly Powell, Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick posted a condolence

Dear Lucille, Jennifer, Mark and families,
Dear Lucille, Jennifer, Mark and family, We were saddened to read the obituary for Harold. We have memories of him from more than forty-five years ago when Edward was part of the West End Baptist Church, St. John's , Newfoundland and Beverly served with Harold on the Christian Training Commission of our Atlantic Baptist family.
Harold baptized Edward and had an influence in Edward following the Lord's call to train and serve as a pastor. We are grateful for the impact Harold had on women and men who eventually went into pastoral or missionary ministry.
We thank the Lord that Harold heard and obeyed the call of the Lord Jesus to be a disciple and to invest his life in the Kingdom of God.
We are also grateful for the words of the Lord Jesus, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me though he die yet shall he live." John 11:25 We are remembering you in prayer.
