Obituary of Sherry Elizabeth Stewart

It is with heavy hearts the family of Sherry Elizabeth Stewart (Perley) of Penniac announces her passing, at the age of 66, on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Hospice House in Fredericton after a lengthy illness.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Matthew (Tia); and grandsons, Karsen and Kohen. She is also survived by her siblings, Ricky Perley (Shelley), Wendy Boies (Royce), Gregory Perley (Sandra) and Jody Perley (Lois); as well as many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

Sherry was predeceased by her son, Steven Stewart; and parents, Harriet (Hunter) and Douglas Perley.

Sherry will be remembered for her big heart, kind soul and her cooking. After working for the Provincial Government for 7 years, Sherry made a career change and went to work at Annie’s Restaurant in Devon. Sherry enjoyed many years at Annie’s as a manager and cook. When Annie’s closed Sherry went to manage and cook at the Scholten’s 7-11 in Industrial Park. Many customers would come specifically for HER cooking and sometimes leave if she was not on shift. Between Annie’s and Scholten’s Sherry made many lifelong friends, who she kept in touch with up until her passing.

Sherry was very much a people person and loved having long talks. Her door was always open, and very much enjoyed visits with family and friends. After a visit with Sherry your heart and belly were always full. Family really was her everything, especially when her grandsons, Karsen and Kohen were born. She loved cooking and baking for all her boys.

Sherry enjoyed picking berries, gardening, camping at the lake with family and friends, and playing cards and board games with the kids. Sherry could often be found in a hockey rink or ball field watching her boys.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Ranson officiating. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to Hospice House Fredericton.
