Obituary of Vilma Landry

The passing of Mary “Vilma” Landry of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Vernon Landry, occurred on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on November 9, 1929 in Bathurst, NB, she was a daughter of the late James and Beatrice (Pitre) Lavigne.   

Vilma is survived by her sons, Gary Landry of Chester, NS and Glenn Landry (Carol) of Halifax, NS; daughters, Gale Landry of Fredericton, NB and Kathy Clarke (Stephen) of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren, Mitch, Matthew, Melissa, Jacob, Courtney and Dalton; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Vilma was the last surviving member of her immediate family.     

 Besides her husband and parents, Vilma was predeceased by her siblings, Marie, Dorothy, Roger and Robert. 

She had a passion for keeping her hands busy. You name it she mastered it. Sewing, Gardening, Quilting, Knitting, Crocheting, Needle Point and Swedish Weaving to name a few. She made hundreds of socks, mittens and hats over the years giving them all away to local charities.  She was a member of the legions Lady’s Auxiliary managing the annual poppy campaigns for many years.

Always challenging her mind, she loved playing cards, puzzles and exploring the wonders of technology with her laptop and iPad. One of her favorite Facebook pages was the Bathurst News Brunswick Genealogy and old photos.

A Graveside Service will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Bathurst, NB on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 2 pm with Father Keith Goldrup officiating.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
