Obituary of Ada Etheline Collins

Ada Etheline Collins, of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the age of 87 years, after a courageous and graceful battle with Alzheimer’s.  Born in Gaspereau Forks, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Lewilda (Darrah) Copeland. 

Beloved wife of 67 years to Blake having enjoyed a wonderful life together; loving mother to Jeff (Janice) Collins of Burlington, ON, Brenda (Ben) Driscoll of Fredericton, NB; devoted Nana to Courtney (Jacques), Andrew, Brittany (Josh); great-grandmother to Ryker, Austin, Madison, Nathan; dear sister to Shirley Bilerman, and several nieces and nephews.

Ada was a devoted member of Journey Wesleyan Church, helping to guide her in her faith and love of her Lord.  She was blessed with many long-time loving friends and memories.  She worked in her husband’s business, Collins Mobile Moving, volunteered at DECH, and showed compassion and blessed many with handiworks, her gift of hospitality, and her home cooking.  Her greatest devotion was to her husband and family. 

She was predeceased by her parents, and brother-in-law, Jack Bilerman. 

Special thanks to Dr. M. Khaleduzzaman and the compassionate staff who cared for her on 3E/Palliative Care at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, and her loving friends, home careworker, and pastoral staff who prayed, supported her, and attended to her affectionately. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 6pm-8pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2pm at the same location in the T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matthew Maxwell officiating, and assistance by Pastor Janice Queale.  Please access York Funeral Home via Douglas Avenue due to the ongoing construction.  Pallbearers for the service will be Hayward Case, Wayne Cliff, Jack Dow, Ron Kirkpatrick, Hugh McKnight and Gordon Saunders.  Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Roy Jones and Dale Morehouse. A reception immediately following the service and interment thereafter in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances (in lieu of flowers) may be made to Journey Wesleyan Church or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
