Obituary of Charlotte Bettina Edney

Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Charlotte Bettina "Betty" Edney of Fredericton, NB occurred on June 2, 2022 at York Care Centre.  Born on November 5, 1922 in St. Stephen, NB she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Buchanan) Brown.

Betty worked as a Lab Technician for the Dept. of Natural Resources and earned her Bachelor of Arts at UNB at the age of 69.  She was a natural artist and enjoyed spending her time painting and making cards for family and friends.   Over the years she made many quilts and blankets, and loved giving them as gifts for special occasions, especially when there was a new baby.  Christmas was her favorite holiday, and her home was always filled with decorations and some of her homemade tree ornaments.

Betty loved animals and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders.

A drive in the country with a stop for lunch was one of her favorite ways to spend the day.

Betty is survived by daughters Cheryl Edney of Taymouth, Anne Anderson (Melvin) of Taymouth, Nancy Nicholls of Fredericton, son Larry Edney (Jill) of Quispamsis, sister Bertha MacElwain (David) of Ontario, brother Harry Brown (Lil) of St. Stephen, 7 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, whom she adored.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her half-sister Margaret Cross.  Betty also leaves behind her 4-legged friend Mr. Riggs who loved to share treats with her.

At Betty’s request there will be no formal services.

For those who wish, donations may be made to York Care Centre or a charity of one’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
