Obituary of Joyce Cecilia Mackin

We are fortunate that Mom had the foresight and wisdom to be able to write her own obituary, years before she passed.  This is what she wanted you to know about her. Joyce Mackin passed away quietly on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Windsor Court Retirement Residence.  She was the only child of the late John A. and Mary (Hayes) Hayes.  Widow of the late Michael “Mickey” Mackin, they moved to Fredericton in 1959 from Saint John. Born in Tay Creek, a graduate of Stanley Regional High School and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She spent her 39 years of work at the VPH and the DECH; a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, and a honourary member of the CWL.  A retired member of NANB and NBNU.  After retirement was a volunteer for Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.

 

Survived by one daughter, Mary Anne Beattie (Rick) of Tay Creek, NB; grandsons, Jason of Alberta and Michael of Fredericton, NB; step son in law, Gary MacBean and step grandchildren, Tracy Fraser (Shane) of Fredericton, NB and Craig MacBean (Chandra) of New Maryland, NB and their children, Garrison and Alexa Fraser and Tenley MacBean;  I leave five of the Birthday Girls, Vivian, Valerie, Madeline, Norma and Carolyn and meet four who are gone on before; she also leaves behind numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and special niece, Mary Jane and nephew, Warren; three sisters in law and one brother in law all on the Mackin.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her step daughter, Gail MacBean; four brother in laws and one sister in law.

 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11 am with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
