Obituary of Peter James Crawford
CRAWFORD, PETER JAMES
The passing of Peter James Crawford, husband of Jennifer (Crossman) Crawford, occurred on Tuesday May 31, 2022 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on February 8, 1966, he is the son of the late Ernest and Marion (Barton) Crawford.
In addition to his wife, Jennifer, Peter is survived by his son, Bradley (Ashley); grandsons, Grayden, Brodie and Easton; sisters, Linda Ward (Terry) and Brenda LeBlanc; brothers, Richard Crawford (Florence) and Allen Crawford (Karen); in laws, Brian and Margaret Crossman; sister-in-law, Krista Spencer (Chris); brother-in-law, Skeeter Crossman (Wendy); several nieces and nephews.
On June 26, 2021 our lives changed forever when we heard the words cancer and amputation, but we thought – we got this! Peter will have the surgery, get a prosthetic leg and with therapy and a lot of hard work he will walk again. But there were other plans for us. Peter fought with everything he had through chemo and radiation but his cancer was just too aggressive. Beside his side, through everything, was where I wanted to be and now, he will be with me as I figure out how to move on.
Husband, father, grampie, brother, My best friend, travel and adventure partner. He was so proud of Bradley and the great man and father he has become. His favourite place was the cottage at Maquapit Lake, the campfires and cart rides will never be the same without him there. He will be greatly missed by the lake crew, especially his great friends, Bennett and Gail Vautour. Our foursome was always up to something and it usually included “The Captain”. The grandkids brought him such joy from four wheelers, cart rides, throwing rocks in the lake, and spending time at the hockey rinks.
Thank you to Dr. Khaleduzzam, the Oncology Department at the DECRH and the amazing staff at Fredericton Hospice House. They went above and beyond everyday to make this last month just a little more bearable. They put up with his many snack requests, our endless company, and he even had them getting the special coffee additive from his fridge. Your kindness will never be forgotten and your team is truly amazing.
There will be no service by Peter’s request. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
