Obituary of Barbara Mary Fleming

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deep sorrow, the family of Barbara Mary (McAllister) Fleming of Boiestown announces her death on April 14th, 2022, at Hospice House Fredericton. Barbara was born in Saskatoon, SK on March 11th, 1932, the youngest child of George and Julia (Hawkins) McAllister. Mom is survived by her loving children Dr. Ann (John) Collins, Jim (Dorine) Fleming, Grant Fleming (Jacques Webster), Dr. Ian Fleming, Paul Fleming, Michael Fleming, and Mary Fleming. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Josh (Keely) Collins, Jessica (Troy) McIntyre, Julia Collins, and Natalie (Patrick Hebert) Fleming, her great-grandchildren Haley McIntyre, Lauren McIntyre, and Hudson Collins, and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara is predeceased by her husband Gerald, daughter Jane, sister Shirley Creamer, brothers Bill, Ian, and Kevin McAllister, sisters-in-law Noreen McQueen, Elizabeth Boyle, Kay Fleming, brothers-in-law Dr. Roy Creamer and Paul Fleming, nephew Peter (Loretta) Creamer, and nieces Margo (Nevin) Seeley and Julia McAllister.

Mom was actively involved in St. Joachim’s parish, playing many roles including lector, choir member, Altar Society President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and providing housekeeping services for several priests at the Parish Rectory in Boiestown. Mom, for many years, collected donations for the Canadian Cancer Society, and delivered Meals-on-Wheels and Books-on-Wheels. She was an active and appreciative member of the Upper Miramichi Community Library, which provided her lasting and kindred relationships with library staff and members, while quenching her innate desire for knowledge and understanding.

Mom was a beautiful soul. She was kind, attentive, and empathic. She was a woman of deep faith and concern for others. She was the epitome of grace. She naturally attracted people and was an example to all of us of the importance of those qualities.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Dr. Andrea Hickey for her many years of care provided to Mom, to Linda Harding and her team at Pharmasave in Doaktown, and to all of the caregivers at Hospice House Fredericton.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 at Miramichi Valley Chapel 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, from 5pm to 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, Main Street, Doaktown, NB; family words of reflection will commence 10:45am. Interment will be in St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery, Boiestown, at a later date. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family requests masks are worn at the funeral home and church.

Although Mom loved flowers, she would appreciate donations to Hospice House Fredericton and Upper Miramichi Community Library in lieu. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
