The passing of Shirley E Johnston of Durham Bridge, NB, wife of Fred Johnston, occurred on April 12, 2022 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on April 13, 1947 in Astle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Hunter) Astle.
Shirley enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the Nashwaaksis Lions Club.
Shirley is survived by daughter, Trudi (Kevin); sons, Jamey (Heather), Nicki, grandchildren, Kelsi (Colin), Kodi (Sam), Kahli (Cam), Campbell, Hunter, Ryder, Scout; great grandchildren Owen, Austin and soon to be baby boy Estey; Brothers, William (Sylvia) Astle, Reggie (Nora) Astle; sister, Jeanne (Terry) Black; sisters-in-laws, Diane and Judy Astle; several cherished nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Kendall, Tommy and Duane and sister-in-law, June.
The family would like to say thank- you to doctors, Aslam (ICU), K. Cameron and J. Goodyear and nurse Paola from Hospice House for their wonderful care.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2:00 pm Rev. Brian MacDonald will officiate. The family request that all attending to please wear a mask. Interment will take place in Upper Durham Memorial Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice House Fredericton or donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
