Martine Bernard posted a condolence

My heartfelt condolences to Albert’s family.
Like so many in Devon, I grew up enjoying the wonders and learning opportunities that Neill’s farm presented. During those childhood and adolescent years, Albert was always kind, respectful, and fair - even if we neighbourhood kids were naughty. He later became my mentor and elder when I worked in the Dairy Industry, where those same qualities along with his good judgement and integrity earned him the highest regard from farmers, staff, and industry. His legacy of decency in both his professional and personal communities means he will be fondly remembered and I for one, am very grateful to have known this special person.
To those who mourn his passing, may you find comfort in your warmest memories.
Blessings,
~Martine Bernard

I would like to pass along my condolences to the Neill family. I was born in Devon and my father used to take us to the farm to toboggan in the winter. In highschool I met Allan and we became friends. Later on I worked on dairy farms and became acquainted with Albert again. After university I was reconnected with him through the NB Milk Marketing Board and had the highest respect for him. He was certainly a man of integrity.
Blessings as you grieve the loss and hopefully find peace in the many fond memories.

My heart is with you, Sheila, Sharon, and Greg as you move into this new season of life without your dear Dad. I can still see him and your Mum sitting in church, and the many, many times I was in your home where Sheila and I practised singing together, then in adulthood when I visited them when in town I saw what a gem of a man he was.

We were saddened to hear of Albert's passing. Albert was a fine Christian man. Both Albert and Ronnie were very well liked and highly respected men. We remember them fondly. Any time we visited their farm, they were very welcoming, no matter how busy they were, they always took time to talk with us. When we first started in the dairy business, we bought quite a few Holsteins from him. Albert had an elite Canadian Holstein herd and they helped us build our herd. He was a great mentor to our dairy farming years. David first met Albert in 1963 when he went in search for his first 4-H calf. When we mentioned to our family about Albert's passing, they all commented about Albert giving them tickets for the rides at the Exhibition. We competed with the Devon Holstein herd at many cattle shows. We have many fond memories of the Neill family. May God comfort and strengthen you all at this time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will always remember his gentle heart and his beautiful smile.
Sincerely Sympathy from David, Ida, Jason, Julie & Jeremy DuPlessis.

Sincere condolences to you on the death of Albert. He was a wonderful friend and colleague for many years. Our friendship began in the 1950s when I would visit the Neill’s with my father Cy.
Albert was a very valuable and dedicated member of the NB Milk Producer study team the recommended the establishment of the Milk Marketing Board and he became a founding member of the Board. He was rock-solid in his thinking and forward planning to provide much needed improvements for all New Brunswick milk producers, to be treated fairly and equally, regardless of where their farm was located. Albert was very dedicated in seeing the implementation of better advertising and marketing programs, which lead to much improved income for milk producers.
It was a tremendous pleasure to be able to serve the Dairy Industry along with Albert. His support, dedication and strong faith in God served us all well.
Thank you for sharing Albert with us for so many years. God’s riches blessing on you, and all the Neill family, as you morn and remember precious memories of a life so well lived.

Albert and his brother Ron were well respected by their neighbours and peers in the dairy community. Our family thought the world of them and enjoyed visits to the barn on a regular basis. We enjoyed the stories that were told. My brothers and I were fortunate enough to earn some spending money each fall and winter as Albert would get us to clip the cattle as they came in from pasture. Looking back now, the experience was far more valuable. Truly special to have been around Albert and the Neil family.
My condolences to the family.

It was such a pleasure to have been the herd veterinarian for Devon Holsteins for the last 15 years of its existence. Albert was such a special, compassionate and respected Dairyman. I have so many fond memories of him and his cows, but this one I should share. I remember walking into the barn many times when Albert would be dressed a plastic apron carrying a warm pail of soapy water. This water he used to wash the tails of the cows. A very dedicated and one of a kind gentleman. He was an inspiration to dairy producers and veterinarians who were fortunate enough have met him.

Sharon, Sheila and Greg;
Sincere sympathy on learning of Albert's passing.
Another fine Devon gentleman is gone from our midst.
Our family has many memories of living on Neill Street, the sliding hill, climbing/playing
in the hay barns, petting the calves, talking to Albert and Ronnie.
The special homemade halloween treats from the Neill family home.
I especially remember the summer I worked as a young lad helping the carpenters building the
Neill house on the corner of Neill and MacLaren.
Wow, so many great memories.
I pray that God's strength and comfort is with all of Albert's family during this time of your loss.
Rick Lifford.

I first met Albert about 13 year ago visiting his farm with Kent and Lorraine. Looking at the nice cows we bought a 4-h calf and a dry cow that wasn't in calf but Albert wouldn't send her to the sale. He liked her,,a testament to his love of cows. We flushed her and bred her she went EX and had many great offspring. A year later wanting to retire he called and asked if i wanted the rest of the herd.Much thinkin I said yes was so lucky to get the opportunity he gave us at Elm Lane.thanks from your girls in Ont. He was always down the aisle from us when I was a kid at the FREX in the dairy barn and I remember he used to give us free ride vouchers for the midway . He was always one of my favourites at shur gain as I worked at the store for years . He was a “good cow man “ as they say . Devon Holsteins is fondly remembered. Condolences to all of the family .

I have many fond memories of Neil’s farm - growing up in Devon the farm was a big part of my childhood - my grandparents ( mcsorley’s ) lived on mcevoy st. The farm welcomed all of us with open arms . I spend many days walking through the barns, talking to Mr Neil . Looking for kittens in the hay barn and patting the calves . During the winter months the farm again welcomed many children to slide on the hills and skate behind mr longs home on Neil’s farm property . The Neil family was a staple in Devon- wonderful people that opened their land, barn and home to many of us growing up . Thank you for all the wonderful childhood memories . Condolences to the Neil family

To the Family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Neill. Neill's Farm was my back yard for 50 years and I enjoyed the sliding, the skiing and the skating on the pond at the bottom of Forbes Street. It was due to the generosity of the Neill family that allowed us to do all those things. Those memories will always be with me and my children.
My deepest condolences to you all.
