Obituary of Anne Whaling

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Dolorosa Whaling of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Frank Whaling, which occurred on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on September 20, 1932 in Buchans, NL, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Dawson) Barron. 

Anne is survived by son, Steve Yaychuk (Antoinette) of Hanwell, NB; grandsons, Alex Yaychuk of Fredericton, NB and Philip Yaychuk of Ottawa, ON; sisters, Margaret Vilimaitis of Fredericton, NB and Genevieve Williams of Goulds, NL; sister in law, Marie Barron of Carbonear, NL; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Frank Whaling she was predeceased by her first husband, Alex Yaychuk,  brother, James Barron and brothers-in-law, Joseph Vilimaitis and Ed Williams.

Anne began her career in an office in Buchans, before later moving to work in Hamilton, ON, where she spent most of her working life.  Throughout her career, Anne advanced from secretarial work, to bookkeeping and finally to sales of "Grown-up's Toys" in the camping, winter sports and marine business industries. In her last few years, Anne lived at Shannex in Fredericton, and her final days were spent in the Chalmers Hospital between 3NE and the Palliative Care Unit. Anne was looked after by caring,empathetic and highly professional staff.  They made her final journey a blessing both for Anne and her family, that stayed with her to the end. 

A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon Macleod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 10:30 am.

Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Ancaster, ON at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
