Obituary of Garland Douglas Tibbits
TIBBITS, GARLAND DOUGLAS
After a courageous battle with cancer, Garland Douglas Tibbits of Ripples, NB, husband of Joyce (Post) Tibbits passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on July 2, 1940 in Midlands, NB, he was the son of the late Ruth (Drost) and Edward Tibbits. Garland retired as a Custodian at the Minto Elementary School. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, old country music, had a huge collection of 78s and loved a good game of cards.
Garland is survived by his daughter, Judy Viel (Frank); son Randy Tibbits (Kelly); brothers, Gary Tibbits and Dennis Tibbits; sisters, Sylvia Bailey (Lester) and Erma Freeborn (Bruce); grandchildren, Douglas (Jodi), Romain, Marc (Sheila), Abby and Allie; great grandchildren, Chloe, Danielle, Mariève, Vanessa, Haley, Hudson, Henry and Felix; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Garland was predeceased by his son, Steven Tibbits; brothers, Dwain, Delbert and Dale Tibbits; sister, Lorna Knox; infant brother Norman.
A Private Interment will take place in Ripples Community Cemetery, at a later date. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice Fredericton.
