I met Phil when I was 18 years old and working at the Algonquin in St.Andrews, NB. That's about 27 years ago. He was the maintenance man and always had time to chat, and share jokes. We became pals and he introduced me to bird watching and just generally observing and appreciating nature. Over the years, we stayed in touch as penpals. I loved hearing about all his art projects and notes from around his property and the park. I just sat down to write him a Christmas card as I hadn't heard from him in a while. And now I see he's passed on. He was a true gentleman and a salt of the earth beauty. Rest easy, Phil. I'm so glad our paths crossed.
