Obituary of Mabel Shirley Dorcas

The family of Mabel Shirley Dorcas (Fullarton) regretfully announce her passing. Mabel passed away on October 14, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Ian and Annabelle (Hay) Fullarton.

Mabel is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie Regan (Garry); sons, Nicholas Dorcas (Denice), Andrew Dorcas (Cindy) and Kent Dorcas (Terri-Lyn); grandchildren, Wade and Joanne Regan, Julie Dorcas, Nicole Hawkes, Kaitlyn Dorcas, Andrew, Shawna and Jamie Dorcas; great grandchildren, Amber, Aden, Isaiah , Jagger, Tarren, Torri, Tyson, Ava, Ruthie, Myles, Finnley, Jay, Samantha and Mason; brothers, Ronald, Martin and William Fullarton; and sister, Winnifred Mallock. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Dorcas; son, Kirk Dorcas; brothers, Reginald Fullarton and Vern Fullarton; and sister, Joan O’Hara.

She worked for 25 years at Veneer Products in Napadogan. Mabel loved to play cards and carried with her a bag of quarters. She also loved knitting, cross stitch, quilting and camping. She was an avid bingo player as well as an accomplished puzzle maker. Mabel was a life member of Hillcrest United Church and spent many years on the fundraising committee helping with Ellen's Kitchen suppers.

Her family wish to thank her homecare workers, Extra Mural workers and the palliative care workers for their care and compassion. Her many family members and friends will miss her.

A Family and Friends Graveside Service will take place at the Williamsburg Community Cemetery on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Walker officiating. Masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillcrest United Church or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
