Obituary of Kermit Cyril Brewer

It is with great sadness the family of Kermit Cyril Brewer announces his peaceful passing at Oromocto Public Hospital on September 25, 2021.

Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Almeda (Crouse); his children Dawn Foreman (Joe Byrne); Dana Brewer (Karen); and Deanna Brewer (Frank Boulet); granddaughter Dustie Brewer (Chris Strome); grandsons Dan Foreman (Janelle); Ben Foreman (Jacquelyn) and their father Keith Foreman (Jill Rediker); great grandchildren Jovie, Kyla, Easton, Paisley, Sulley, Casey and Turner; brothers Mahlon Brewer (Marlene) and Michael Brewer (Pat); several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by brother Philip Brewer.

Kermit was the second son born to Cyril and Muriel (Estey) Brewer on October 15, 1935.  Kermit graduated from business college at the age of 16 and went to work along side his father at the family business “C.R. Brewer & Sons” in Zealand, NB and later took over the operation upon the passing of his father in 1969.  At that time the general store was a hub in the community.  In later years he worked as an equipment floater for Diamond Construction Ltd., where he worked until his retirement. Never one to shy away from hard work or a long day, providing for his much loved family was paramount.  Kermit would often say, “If you don’t have family, you don’t have anything”.

In his younger years Kermit enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening.  He and Almeda even operated their own raspberry stand/U pick for a number of years.  Always an avid reader he continued his love of books and learning into the later years of life.  He enjoyed bird watching and music. Above all he loved his family and enjoyed time spent with them.

He leaves behind so many special memories for his wife, children, grand children and great grandchildren - from bedtime stories to high adventure treasure hunts.  He will be lovingly missed.

The family is extremely grateful to the compassionate staff of the Oromocto Public Hospital who so attentively provided care.  Your kindness and smiles provided comfort and brightened our days.  Special thanks also to New Brunswick Extramural for the wonderful care.
