Obituary of Michael David McNeill

With great sadness we announce the passing of Michael David McNeill, husband of Sandra (MacBean) McNeill of Fredericton, NB which occurred on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on July 2, 1947 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Gerard and Kathleen (Estey) McNeill.

Growing up Michael attended school in Taymouth and Stanley, making many friends along the way. He loved playing sports, mainly ball and hockey. He married Sandra MacBean in 1973. They made their home in Marysville. Mike worked at UNB looking after refrigeration and air conditioning before retiring in 2002. Mike was an outdoorsman. He spent many years fishing, hunting and picking fiddleheads along the Nashwaak River. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, watching hockey and ball games on TV (he was a Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan). Mike loved his poodles, T.J. and Lady. Above all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Michael is survived by his daughter, Tracey McNeill (Ryan) of Edmonton, AB; son, Joey McNeill of Fredericton; grandchildren, Mya, London and Meka; sister, Linda Banks (Steve) of Fredericton; brother, Don McNeill (Terry) of Douglas; several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held in Taymouth Community Cemetery on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. The family requests masks and physical distancing for attendees of the service. Remembrances can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Research Fund and would be appreciated by the family.
