A mothers love is something that no one can explain, it is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain, it is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may, for nothing can destroy it or take that love away.

It is with profound sadness we share the passing of Izella May Reid of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Peter Reid, which occurred on July 17, 2021 at Neill Hall - Shannex.  Born on April 3, 1934 in Bloomfield Ridge, NB,  she was the daughter of the late Merle (MacDonald) and Murray Calhoun.   

Izella is survived by her children, Eddy Reid (Judy),  Billy Reid (Brenda), Hale Reid, Ruth Reid (Chris) and Mary Jane (Kevin); son-in-law Terry Brewer. She had a special place in her heart for her seven grandchildren whom she adored; Chris, Maggie, Jason (predeceased), Jessica, Chelsea, Marlee and Braedyn; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie, Jackie, Myrna and Roxanne; brothers, Arden, Jimmy and Jerry;.  

Besides her parents and her husband, she was very recently predeceased by her daughter, Beth Reid; grandson, Jason Blinco; sister, Jeanne, brothers, Kenneth and Perley.   

Izella and her husband Peter operated a restaurant in Boiestown from 1965 to 1990. Izella went on to work at Salmon Brook in 1991 and retired in 2005.  Her final years were spent in Fredericton where she was closer to her children.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  The funeral will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Nathan Wright officiating. Due to the current health concerns the service is by invitation only, the service can also be viewed by registering through the Funeral Home’s Website (Click on link in Izella’s obituary).  Interment will take place in Boiestown United Church Cemetery, For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice House Fredericton or donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
