It is with deep sadness that the family of Gail Isabella (Currie) Rodgers announces her passing on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on August 18, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Fletcher) Currie and the sister of the late Raymond Currie.
Gail lived the first four years of her life in Cross Creek, New Brunswick until her family later settled in Marysville. She had many fond memories growing up in Marysville, especially of her schooldays, church activities, her many friends, and wonderful neighbours. During her youth, she especially loved singing and travelling with York Singers. After graduating from Fredericton Business College in 1967, she began her career working at the University of New Brunswick in the Registrar’s Office. She later worked in UNB’s Dean of Arts office and the Department of Biology and then for Canada Customs. Gail’s love of dancing and music led her to attend many dances at the Lady Beaverbrook Rink. On a summer night in 1967, she happened to meet the love of her life, Keith. They married in 1969 and after a few years settled in New Maryland, where they raised their two children. Gail was an incredibly loving mother and devoted wife, who was always there for her family at a moment’s notice. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them any chance she had. Her family will fondly remember her for always making every occasion and holiday extremely special for them.
Gail will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Keith Rodgers; her children, Michael (Susan) Rodgers and April (Ahmad) Sahib; her four grandsons, Matthew and James Rodgers, Haseeb and Beckham Sahib, and one great-grandson, Jude Rodgers.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 1 pm with Rev. Albert Snelgrove officiating. The Funeral Service will be by invitation only due to seating limitations. For those who wish, remembrance may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
