Obituary of Arthur Ernest Merrill

The passing of Arthur Ernest Merrill of Williamsburg, NB, husband of Charlotte (Hawkins) Merrill, occurred on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was born on November 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Ernest and Norma (Gullison) Merrill.  Arthur was raised in Stanley, where he lived his whole life.  He was a heavy duty mechanic by trade and a truck driver. His work took him across Canada.  There wasn't much he couldn't figure out and fix.  His work ethic was unmatched.  He knew a lot of people and helped everyone he could. Arthur had a smart mind, sharp wit, was kind and had a generous heart.  He was one of a kind.  Even after he was diagnosed with cancer and the treatments weakened his body, he still tried to help others.  He was one of the strongest men around.

Arthur is survived by his children, Shelley Sellick (Carl), Craig Merrill (Laura), Jason Merrill (Tanya Duff) and Sandi Merrill; grandchildren, Clay, Bailey, Colt, Taylor, Alexa, Garrett, Josie, Shelby, Kierra, Katie, Austin and Jensen; great grandchildren, Ava, Hunter and Noelle; sisters, Roxanne Young (Mark), Doreen Merrill (Stephen) and Melissa Merrill; brothers, Marty Merrill (Roberta), Paul Merrill (Ann), David Merrill (Donna); step-mother, Marie (Brown) Merrill; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Sweeney.

Visitation will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Church on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 6-9 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at Cross Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2 pm with Pastor Gordon Mowry officiating. Due to the current health concerns the funeral will be by invitation only through the family.  The public are invited to attend via a livestream webcast on Roxanne Merrill Young's Facebook Page.   Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
