Condolences to Shirly and the family. I got to meet John in Labrador City and worked with him there until the RCMP left the area. A few times I hunted with John on his hunting property in NB. John was a great guy, good police officer and will be greatly missed. Sorry I have not been in touch with him during the last few years as it seems time is going by too quickly. Charlotte and I were saddened to hear of John's passing. He was great guy and will be missed by his family and his friends. John was a dedicated police officer who was well respected by both his fellow workers and the public he dealt with on a daily basis. I had the pleasure of being invited to one of the Northern Quebec fishing trips that John and his friends organized yearly. A great time was had, mainly due to the organizing by John and his very close friend Johnny Jewett. Shirley and family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you. John was one of the good old boys.

Shirley & Family, my sincere condolences on the passing of John. Sherwood /Parkdale, PEI was my first detachment coming out of Depot in 1975. There were several great members in the detachment but out of all, John was what I expected a policeman to be. He took me under his wing and guided me along those early days of my service. I often think back to the socialization between our familes in those days. He will be missed.

Our sincere sympathy to Shirley and her family on John's passing. We served with John in the RCMP in Labrador City. John actually made an outdoor swing for me, which my two girls and I loved. We have so many fond memories of John and Shirley and our time together in Labrador City.
John was a pleasure to work with. I remember his quiet demeanor and love of the outdoors.
His loss will be sorely felt by his family and friends. Gone but never forgotten.

Shirley, Terri and family,
We were saddened and shocked to hear of John's passing. He was a true gentleman and such a nice man! When Greg would go away for work during the winter months, he always kept our driveway immaculately plowed. Was always looking out for a person. He called the house one time to tell me he noticed that I had a tail light out in my car....another time on a really slippery day, he saw me drive by. A few minutes later the phone rang and it was him calling to see if got in the house okay without falling. Said my driveway was pretty icy and he was worried. Just by these gestures you could tell the type of family man that he was and you were all so lucky to have him. We are so sorry for your loss and we will miss his waves when we drive by.
