I'm finding out very late that Kathryn passed away. My condolences to Alton, David, Marilyn, Courtney and Chipp.
I have good memories of your family in Fredericton and at Beulah. I always felt welcome in your home - ( until David and I ran away to work our way to Europe and maybe after we spent a night in a Houlton jail) but I think Alton and Kathryn forgave me eventually. Hold on to your memories!

Precious memories of special people- Kathryn and Alton ... what great encouragers they were to us when we first ventured out in pastoral ministry as youth pastor in the mid 1970s. Quiet giants of the faith who were gracious and kind! Be assured Alton of our prayers for you in these days of grief and adjustments. May you know the Master's comfort and strength as you journey on, One day we will all sing around the throne eternal. We send you our love- Peter and Judy Vanderploeg

My Aunt Katherine was truly a special woman. As a child I can remember spending time with her and my Uncle Alton along with my cousins. Sometimes at their place, sometimes at Beulah and sometimes at our house on Simcoe Court. I remember a specific Christmas we spent with them on Southampton, huge storm on Christmas Eve making the side streets impassable. My dad (Altons only brother) pulled my mom on a sled and we trudged into Uncle Alton and Aunt Katherines house for Christmas dinner. I can remember the smells of Christmas, the warmth of family and sitting at their dinning room table as a family having dinner - I'll never forget that memory. I can also remember many Sunday evenings, when visiting family and friends after church was the norm - we often had the opportunity to spend time with our extended family and Aunt Katherine was the ultimate hostess. Times spent at our grandparents home in Perth all together, playing in the woods behind their home, sliding in the winter. Someone (?) had a camcorder and my Aunt Katherine hated having the camera on her - she preferred to be in the background looking after everyone else. Thinking of her today - she was loyal, stoic, hard working, thoughtful, talented, committed, respected - I knew she loved me, not because she told me but because she showed me. With love - Cindy
