The MacDonald Family -
I express the condolences of all Patricias on the loss of James Gordon MacDonald. His service in Korea with 3 PPCLI was an important contribution to the regiment and to Canada and Korea. As you would know the raising of 3 PPCLI started in Borden and Ipperwash in winter 1951/52, then continued in Wainwright after May 1952 but they were all in Korea and on the line 8 December, and had Christmas in the trenches. His continued public service after Korea as a teacher and a RCAF Cadet Officer was important to his community. We thank his extensive family for all of the support that you must have given James through the years. The PPCLI will remember the contribution of his service.
Brigadier-General Vince Kennedy (Ret'd)
Colonel of the Regiment

I am sorry to hear of the death of James Jim: .MacDonald .I was teaching in Plaster Rock at TVRHS in the early fifties. Jim was there and I remember him well . I recall him playing for us a well known Korean song and I learned the first part which I still can sing and I actually heard it on the radio not long ago ..I thought of Jim and those days . He was very military and very interesting.I always liked him .
Also, I see in the obituary that Alan is still alive .I knew him quite well too and say Hi to him.
My condolences to all of you.
I have experienced the death of my father and my husband so I am acquainted with grief.
Sincere sympathy

To Edith and Family,
I am thinking of you at this sad time. James was my history teacher during high school and to this day I am still interested in history. I remember him as a stern and fair teacher. May time ease the sadness of his loss but not erase the memories of his long life.
Sincerely,
Rilla (Tapley) McLean

My deepest sympathy to Edith and all the families. I had the greatest pleasure to work for Jim at the Veterans Health Unit for the past few years. Jim was one of the best, he was soft spoken, and very much a gentleman. He was very appreciative of the care he received, and always said a Thankyou with a smile. Jim it won’t be the same without you, my daughter that also works at Veterans, in the kitchen also grew close to you and Edith. We considered you and Edith like family. You certainly left your mark on us all. Edith always remember we are not far away if ever you need to stop by, just for a hug. ❤️❤️❤️ Love Michele

Jim was Principal during my entire time at TVRHS. He was also the Principal when I taught there in 1970/71 I believe. I always respected him for his straightforward approach to leadership, and adopted some of his style later in my professional career. I am sure that he and my mom had some interesting conversations over the years given the “mischievous” nature of the McAskill brats.
May you Rest In Peace, sir, and thank-you for your service to your country and to your community.

Condolences to you all. Mr. MacDonald was a very good man and very well respected by all who knew him. In high school he was our principal, and he had our respect but also was kind. I also remember coming back to supply teach in the early 70s for him. I had a grade 11 math class which my sister was in with all her friends. I was having trouble keeping their attention, I was writing on the board when there was complete silence in the room. I turned around and there stood Mr. MacDonald. He didn’t say a word, looked at the class, nodded to me and off he went. I truly appreciated him.
