Obituary of Willa Albright

Heaven’s Gates were opened wide, a loving voice said, “Come”, Mom gently took her Father’s hand, her earthly work was done. Willa Louise Albright of Barker’s Point, NB, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, 98 years of age, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 14, 1915, in Waterboro, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bessie (Fanjoy) Welton. She attended Provincial Normal School, graduating with a First Class Teachers License in 1933. She taught school for eight years, at schools in Queens County. After her marriage to Thomas Albright in 1942, she lived in New Zion, NB, moving to Fredericton in 1958, where she joined the staff of the Education Resource Center at UNB, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Greenwood Drive Baptist Church, Caleb’s Clan Golden Years, Barker’s Point Half Century Club and an Honouary Member of the LOBA. She was a previous member of the Woman’s Institute and the United Empire Loyalist Society. After her retirement, she worked as a volunteer for the Cancer and Heart Funds. Willa enjoyed cooking, knitting, reading and writing poetry for her friends on special occasions. She also travelled extensively. Willa is survived by her two sons, Clinton and his daughters, April Albright (Todd Crawford) and Aliesha Albright; Carman (Wendy) of Maugerville, NB and their daughter, Mindy (Vince Hoben); her only grandson, Thomas Albright (Coutrney Gorman) of Royal Road, NB; step sisters, Gladys Bentley and Georgina Murphy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Greta; brothers, Gerald and Weldon Welton. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Newcastle Bridge United Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
