Obituary of Basil Stewart
The passing of Basil Elijah Stewart of Taymouth, NB, occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 88. Born in Taymouth, NB, he was the son of the late Samuel Elijah and Annie Belle (Wade) Stewart. Basil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as being an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a retired heavy equipment operator having been employed with the Province of New Brunswick.
Survived by his wife, Loretta “Faye” Stewart; his four sons, Bill (Nettie), David (Linda), Peter and Sandy; six daughters, Marilyn Evans (Stephen), Connie McNeil (Fred), Sylvia Moffat, Elva Cleghorn (Ricky), Vera Crocket, Peggy Talbot (Maurice); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Elva Munn of Boisetown, NB; brother, Doug Stewart of Fredericton, NB; sister-in-law, Dawn Stewart; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Brucie Stewart; brothers, John, Kenneth, Percy and Scott Stewart; sisters, Florence Cass and Lillian Ingersol; brothers-in-law, John Munn and Martin Cass.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2 pm with Pastor Patrick McAloon officiating. Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Taymouth Community Cemetery at a later date.
