Obituary of Keith Traer

The passing of Keith Howard Traer of Fredericton, NB, beloved husband of Willa Ann (MacDiarmid) Traer occurred on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 13, 1940 in Chatham, NB he was a son of the late Howard and Edna (Stewart) Traer. Keith retired as systems safety co-coordinator for NB Power. He was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church and was chairman of the property committee for many years. Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing and just spending time at his camp on the Taxis River. He coached hockey, was a Cub and Scout leader and volunteered at the Napan Agricultural Fair for many years. Above all he cherished the time spent with his granddaughters. In addition to his wife, Keith is survived by his sons, William “Bill” Traer of Fredericton, NB, Daniel “Dan” Traer (Eva Hawkins) of Taxis River, NB and Keith “Ted” Traer (Heloise Dixon-Traer) of Quesnel, BC; beloved granddaughters, Heather and Ashley Traer, Tyquira and Amity Dixon- Traer; brothers, Ronald Traer (Bertie) of Dartmouth, NS and Daryl Traer (JoAnn) of Nelson, NB; step- mother, Florence Traer of Chatham, NB; brother-in-law Louis Walsh of Chatham, NB; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Keith was predeceased by one sister, Jo-Edna Walsh. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from Nashwaaksis United Church on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Franklin Curtis, Rev. J.D Kennedy and Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. There will be a reception to follow in the Church Hall. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.
