Obituary of Merle Estey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Merle Vernon Estey of Zealand, NB, husband of the late Diana May (Brewer) Estey, that occurred on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on August 4, 1930 in Zealand, NB he was the son of the late Ross and Gladys (Estey) Estey. Merle loved fishing, hunting and to read western novels. Merle is survived by his children, David Estey (Diann) of Lower Queensbury, NB, Dolores Brewer (Richard), Wanda Brewer (Monty), Marilyn Dillon (Kenny) all of Zealand, NB, Joeanne Jones of Richibucto Road, NB and Daphine Estey-Burtt (Matt) of Burtts Corner, NB; “Pappy” to his beloved 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Eugene Estey (Maureen) of Zealand, NB, Russell Estey of Zealand, NB, Doris McGivney (Charles) of Nashwaak, NB, Donna Murdock of Burtts Corner, NB, George Estey (Amy) of English Settlement, NB, Dale Estey (Sheila) of Rothesay, NB, and Anna Estey of Burtts Corner, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Merle was predeceased by his stepmother, Glenna (Bishop) Estey; sister, Georgia Brewer; one infant sibling; son-in-law, Danny Jones. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Donald McCarty officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Trent Brewer, Brett Brewer, Jody Jones, Blake Estey, Brent Dillon and Tanner Burtt. Interment will take place at Zealand Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to John T. MacMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation, for Leukemia, and the Zealand Community Cemetery. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
