Obituary of Oswald Carrier

The passing of Oswald “Ozzie” Carrier of Tay Creek, NB, husband of Edna (O’Brien) Carrier, occurred Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 10, 1930 in Lorne, NB he was the son of the late Robert and Merella (Godin) Carrier. Ozzie worked as a woodsman and a labourer. He was affiliated with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Tay Creek, NB. He was an accomplished and self taught musician who enjoyed playing his guitar and fiddle. Ozzie had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He was known as a just and fair man who would take a fall to ensure happiness for others. Ozzie was a devoted husband and father who was the primary care giver for Edna up until his illness. In addition to his wife, Ozzie is survived by his daughters, Marlene Carrier of Stanley, NB and Karen Weagle (Steve) of Tequesta, FL; son, Daryl Carrier (Brenda) of Cross Creek, NB; grandchildren, Michael of Tay Creek, NB and Matthew of Stanley, NB; brothers, William Carrier (Zita) of Lorne, NB and Emanuel Carrier of Doyleville, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ozzie was predeceased by his sisters, Cecile McDonald and Evangeline Kenney; brothers Adolphe, Ralph and Elric. Visitation will take place at Marlene’s home, 22 Main Street, Stanley, NB on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11 am with Father Aaron Knox and Rev. Dr. Michael McGowan as celebrants. A private family interment will take place at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB at a later time. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Just Friends Food Bank, Stanley. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
