Obituary of Marjorie Merritt

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Beulah Marjorie (Munn) Merritt on the morning of Friday November 9, 2012. After a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s), Marjorie passed away peacefully at home in her sleep. She was born March 9, 1931 in Boiestown, NB, before moving to Scotch Settlement. She leaves to mourn her children, Floyd (Sheila) of Fredericton Junction, Jean (David Pike) of Airdrie, AB, Donald and Daniel, both of Springfield; as well as her granddaughters, Cheryl (Michael Orr) of Frankfort, ON, Dawn (Dwayne Cumby) of Fort McMurray, AB and Rachael (Cedric Peters) of Langdon, AB and four beautiful great grandchildren, Tanner, Kaleb, Brooklyn and Savannah. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Arthur (Patricia) of Burtt’s Corner, Alma (Alton Hoyt) of Springfield, Hazel (Garnet Sloan) of Harvey, Malcolm (Roberta) of Scotch Settlement, Beatrice Yerxa of Fredericton, Gary (Edna) of Springfield and Ruby (Sonny Howland) of Scotch Settlement as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Elbridge and Christine Munn of Scotch Settlement and her husband, Ronald Floyd Merritt of Springfield as well as her sister, Irene and brother-in-law, Osborne Hoyt. We would like to extend our personal thank you to her homemakers, nurses and doctors, who did what they could to ensure her life was as comfortable as possible as well as to ensure she was able to stay home as long as possible. The Graveside Service will take place Saturday November 17, 2012 at 2 pm at the Scotch Settlement Cemetery. Rev. George Clark and Rev. Watson Williams will officiate the service. There will be a luncheon to follow at the Springfield Community Church. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the ALS Society of New Brunswick.
