Obituary of Melvin Blackmore

Melvin Blackmore, husband of the late Caryl Blackmore (Randall) of Fredericton, NB went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, November 10th 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 25, 1926 he spent his formative years in Miramichi, NB before marrying and moving his growing family to Fredericton in 1964. Melvin was an excellent carpenter working with Fredericton Housing and S.M. White’s Woodworking before finishing his career as an independent contractor. His kindness and quiet ways touched all who knew him and his attention to detail in work, family and faith was a testament to a life lived in excellence. He was a born again Christian, regularly attending services with the Brethren at 2 Murray Ave. He is survived by a family who will earnestly miss his generous loving acts of kindness: Paul Blackmore (Alice), Lonnie Blackmore (Andrea), Stephen Blackmore (Debbie) and Dreama Galbraith (Dan) all of Fredericton, NB plus his 13 grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Robinson (Nate) , Kristin Whitehead (Ian), John Blackmore (Cassie), Susie Blackmore, Matthew Blackmore, Timothy Blackmore, Michael Blackmore (Jacquie), Amanda Blackmore, Scott Blackmore, Sarah Blackmore, Allan Galbraith, Nelson Galbraith and David Galbraith. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his parents Hiram and Priscilla (Graham) Blackmore and grandson, Luke Daniel Galbraith. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday November 13th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday November 14th at 12 noon with Mr. Cameron Wilkin officiating. Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Internment will take place in the Byno Cemetery, Lakeville Corner, NB. A big thank you to Dr. Gordon MacDonald, Dr. Kerr, the caring nurses and Doctors of 3 East Palliative care at DECRH.
