Obituary of Mary Dodds

With her family by her side the passing of Mary Ellen Dodds of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Alvin Dodds occurred on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 3, 1927 in Tay Valley, NB, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Alexina (Abernethy) Bell. Mary was a school teacher at various locations until the birth of her children. She was a member of the Gibson Memorial United Church, UCW, former member of the African Violet Society, and Life Member of the NB Antique Auto Club. Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, reading and loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her three daughters, Susan Dodds of Fredericton, NB, Ellen Boone (Doug) of Fredericton, NB and Gail Bongard (Mitch) of Nasonworth, NB; grandchildren, Krista Boone, Katie Sharpe (Rob), Nick Bongard and Julie Bongard; great granddaughter, Stella Rose Sharpe; niece, Theresa Veniot (Peter) and nephew, Donald Stewart (Kim); great niece, Nicole Stewart; great nephew, Joseph Stewart and several cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Katheryn Peterson, Mildred Bell and Gertrude Bell; brother, Lloyd Bell and sister-in-law, Gladys Dodds. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating and Rev. Paul Thompson assisting. Pallbearers for the service are Doug Boone, Mitch Bongard, Rob Sharpe, Joey Stewart, Terry Young and James Russell; Honourary Pallbearers are Krista Boone, Katie Sharpe, Nick and Julie Bongard. Interment will take place at Taymouth Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Chalmers Foundation or Gibson Memorial United Church.
