Obituary of Althea Wilson

Surrounded by her loving family, ALTHEA DOREEN WILSON passed away October 26, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 83. Born on October 14th, 1929 in Maple Grove, NB she was the daughter of Alvretta and Myles Merritt. Althea was pre-deceased by her husband, Wilfred; son, Wayne; brother, Enis; and brother-in-law, Gerald Boone. She is survived by one son, Carl (Heather); one daughter, Valerie Waugh (Harold); six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Millie Boone and Shirley Shields (Doug); one brother, Vincent Merritt (Dorothy); and special friend Margaret Donnelly. Althea was an active member of Hillcrest United Church in Stanley. She was past President and a lifetime member of the UCW. She was very actively involved with her church and community and loved to play cards at the Monday afternoon card parties which she fondly referred to as “The Old Maids Club”. She was a wonderful, caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. In earlier years she loved to go dancing. She was an avid quilter and loved to spend time with all her family, especially her great-grandchildren who gave her so much joy. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Hillcrest United Church, Stanley, NB on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 2 pm with Mr. Wally Ellis (DLM) officiating. Pallbearers for the service are Terry Humble, Irvine Humble, Winston Bartlett, Gary Armstrong, Bill Armstrong and Doug Boone. Interment will be in Hillcrest United Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hillcrest United Church Cemetery. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
