Evans, John Blake
The passing of John Blake Evans of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Veteran’s Health Unit. Born on February 19, 1925 in Woodstock, NB, he was the son of the late John H. and Edith (Blake) Evans. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and then worked for the Federal Government Civil Service in Supply and Service. John was a member of the St, Mary’s Anglican Church and a past member of the Church Choir. He was a member of the Fredericton YMCA and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4.
John is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Evans Born (Jeffery) of Fredericton, NB, Jackie Tait (Earl) of Douglas Harbour, NB and Valerie Helmer (Wayne) of Fredericton, NB; brother, Sheridan Evans of Fredericton, NB; special nephew, Tommy (Jane) Stafford; several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews; special cousins, Susan Melanson, Greg, Brian, Lynwood and Jimmy Stokes and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Alda (Pat) Stafford.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home, Friday at 6:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will take place in St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11 am with Father David Mercer officiating. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Fredericton SPCA, Mental Health or the Parkinson Society.
