Obituary of William Betts

The passing of William “Billy” James Betts of Doaktown, NB, husband of Barbara (Conroy) Betts, occurred on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 18, 1929 in Doaktown, NB, he was the son of the late Grace and Marple Betts. Billy was a successful local businessman. He was a member of the Miramichi Valley Church, past Deacon of the United Baptist Church, Sunday School Superintendent and a founding member of the Old Mill Pond Golf and Country Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Cliff) Durling and son, Tommy (Terri) Betts all of Doaktown, NB; grandchildren, Jennifer, Joanne, Corey and Erica; great grandchildren, Cameron, Josh, Jayden, Zander, Madison and Rachel; sister, Ogla (Bruce) Berry of Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Elmer Betts. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Church on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the church on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 3 pm with Rev. David Storey officiating. Interment will take place in the United Baptist Cemetery, Doaktown, NB.
