Obituary of Shirley Bennett
The passing of Shirley Hazel Bennett of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late F. Raymond Bennett occurred on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 25, 1928 in Douglastown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mae (Russell) Vye. She was a member of the Free Presbyterian Church, Maugerville, NB. Shirley loved knitting.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Ron McLeod (Gail) of Fredericton, NB and Kevin McLeod (Thelma) of Ireland; daughter, Judy Thomas (Darrell) of Guelph, ON; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, husband and first husband, James McLeod, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Connell; brothers, Myron and William Vye.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm with Pastor Rob Burns and Neil Sampson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Jonathan, Jeremy and Jarrett McLeod and Gerald Ladds, Joel Dean and Darrell Thomas; Honourary Pallbearers are Fred Sullivan, Walter Branscombe and Kenneth Connell. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
