Obituary of Gordon Moffitt
The sudden passing of Gordon Langell Moffitt of Fredericton, NB, beloved husband of Mary (Thorburn) Moffitt occurred on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Magaguadavic Lake Siding. Born on February 02, 1944, in McAdam, NB, he was the son of the late Willard and Greta Moffitt. He was a passionate teacher and Biology Department Head at Saint John High School, and later taught at Harbour View High School. Gordon also served in the Canadian Armed Forces for almost 30 years, including as Commanding Officer of 3rd Field Artillery Regiment and then as Commander of the Western New Brunswick Militia District. He was a member of Christ Church Parish Church (CCPC) and the CCPC Men's Club. Gordon enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing, painting, and savouring life with family and friends, especially at Magaguadavic Lake.
In addition to his wife, Gordon is survived by his two sons, Dr. Matthew Gordon Moffitt and Dr. Stephen Andrew Moffitt, granddaughter, Isabel Kathleen Moffitt, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place at St. George’s Anglican Church, McAdam, NB on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating, with reception to follow. Interment will take place in Rockland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Community Kitchen or the Children's Wish Foundation.
