Obituary of Michael Daniels

The passing of Retired Sergeant Michael “Mike” Leonard Daniels of New Maryland, NB, life partner of Charlene Nash, occurred on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 31, 1933 in Toronto, ON, he was the son of the late Leslie and Thais (Earle) Daniels. Mike was a Retired Sergeant with the RCMP “J” Division. He was Past President of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Canada; Member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians; Member of the International Ventriloquists’ Association and a past member of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Fredericton. He enjoyed flying, judo and traveling. Mike was also a former member of a Barber Shop Chorus. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them magic tricks. Mike was very proud of his nine years serving as Santa Claus at the Fredericton Mall. In addition to his life partner, Mike is survived by his daughters, Tricia Van Roeden (Harmen) of Fredericton, NB, Stephanie Langley (Branton) of Milford, NS, Lesley Burke (Charles) of Lincoln, NB, and their mother, Patti Daniels; sons, Michael Daniels (Brenda) of Mississauga, ON, Patrick Daniels of Fredericton, NB and their mother, Janet Andrews; grandchildren, Derek, Lance, Tayten, Ava, Christiana, Alex and Dierks; sisters, Pat Philip (Brian) of Peterborough, ON, Toni Daniels of Toronto, ON and Rebel Hardy of Southampton, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Yana and his sisters, Mary and Blanche. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A private celebration of Mike’s life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Canada. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
