West, Charles “Charlie” Edward
The passing of Charles “Charlie” Edward West, husband of the late Edith (Ward) West of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 13, 1918 in Barkers Point, NB, Charlie was a son of the late Charles and Sarah (Foreman) West. Charlie worked as a Safety Inspector with Diamond Construction until his retirement. He loved sports; he along with Burton Colter coached the Bantam “AAA” hockey team for many years and could be found in the summer time golfing and umpiring softball.
Charles is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Seymour (Paul) of Fredericton, NB, Beverley Trueman (Hazen) of Rotonda, FL, Janet Thibaudeau of Mascouche, QC and Lynda Clare (Neil) of Langley, BC; son-in-law, Ron Garrett of Montague, PE; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, Charlie was predeceased by daughters, Kimberley West and Karen Garrett, great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Seymour; sisters, Dorothy and Rita; son-in-law, Georges Thibaudeau.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, July 24 , 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 1 pm with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery.
