Obituary of Stanley Ebbett
The passing of Stanley “Stan” Arthur Ebbett, of Fredericton, NB, husband of Darlene (Staples) Ebbett, occurred on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 25, 1936 in Devon, NB, he was a son of the late Arthur and Greta (Young) Ebbett. Stan retired in 1994 as a Diesel Mechanic for Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. He was a member of Scouts Canada, York Sunbury Search and Rescue, the Elm City Good Sam Campers and the Northside Heritage. Stan also volunteered for the Y’s Men arena canteen. Stan was a history buff and contributed to numerous historical articles in local Fredericton Publications. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking and searching for artifacts. Stan was an avid supporter of his grandchildren and their activities. In the winter months he would be found following his grandchildren around in arenas throughout Eastern Canada and the United States.
Besides his wife of 55 years, Stan is survived by his children, Mark (Mary Lee) and their children, Brendan and Colin; Sheila Thomas Ebbett (Jessica) and their children, Madison, Ethan and Nathan; Noel (Susan) and their children, Jacob, Savanna and Travis; two sisters, Mary Murch and Eleanor “Sis” Allen; sister-in-law, Connie Ebbett; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Ebbett; brothers-in-law, Joe Murch and Gerald Allen.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Resource Network or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
